ESSENCE OF INDIAN CLASSICAL
A pedagogy-oriented movement X visual art project rethinking the idea of Indian Classical movement forms, their accessibility, and how they can inform artistic practices.
Published as photo stories, short-form video and practiced as regular online and in-person discussions and workshops, the project focuses on history and theory of the practice, music and rhythmic expressions, movement vocabulary and conditioning, tools and techniques of improvisations, methods of storytelling, and influence of contemporary practices on evolution of the form.
EIC has evolved as a teaching module taught across the world where, rooted in Indian Classical Movement vocabulary and aesthetics, we develop a movement exploration method aimed to understand and imbibe the essence of some of the many Indian Classical Dances and incorporate it in individual practice.
